Species Identification

The SEEK app by inaturalist, enables identification of 1000s of different species and can be used to introduce young people to classification. It’s a wonderful way to study the biodiversity of the Quantocks Hills. Photographing, drawing and collecting natural finds for the artwork enables discussion about what trees, plants, insects and fungi live here.

Use the power of image recognition technology to identify the plants and animals all around you. Earn badges for seeing different types of birds, amphibians, plants, and fungi and participate in monthly observation challenges.

It is presented in an interactive map which can be explored using various mapping tools that are included. The service is managed by Natural England. Try out the Interractive mapping tools
